Dillon School of Motoring Terms and Conditions
1. General Conditions
Your instructor is bound by a professional code of conduct. Your instructor will be courteous, polite, tidy and punctual. She will also behave in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
Your instructor’s vehicle will be well maintained, clean and tidy. The vehicle used by your instructor are fitted with dual-controls as part of their standard equipment. The vehicle is fully insured for driving lessons.
Your instructor will not smoke in the vehicle while giving tuition, nor will they use your lesson time for any other form of business, personal or otherwise.
At Dillon School of Motoring we do lessons from 1 up to 4 hours in order to ensure that our pupils get the maximum benefit from our expert instructors.
2. Qualifications
Your Instructor is ADI qualified and fully licensed by the Road Safety Authority (RSA) to give driving tuition.
3. Driving Licence
The learner must hold a current, valid driving license (full or learner permit), which must be produced on or in advance of their first lesson.
If the lesson is an ‘off road and theory lesson’ it is not necessary to produce a license but any driving must be conducted away from public roads.
4. Payments
A deposit of 50% must be paid at time of booking your lesson (applicable to PAYG lessons only). The remainder of payment must be made either before the lesson commences or when the lesson is completed. Please note that all deposits are non-refundable if the lesson is cancelled by the student less than 48hrs before your lesson is due to take place.
If you would like to avail of the 12 or 6 EDT Lesson bundle, the full amount must be paid at time of booking. Partial payments or installments for these bundles are not available.
At this point a binding agreement is made between you and your Dillon School of Motoring Instructor. This does not in any way affect your statutory rights to be provided with the goods and services you have bought.
All moneys and lessons and/or refunds paid to your Dillon School of Motoring instructor is a contract between the pupil and Dillon School of Motoring.
Any refunds arising that are due back to a pupil for whatever reason is the responsibility of Dillon School of Motoring and the Pupil seeking the refund.
Dillon School of Motoring reserves the right edit and amend its pricing structure to reflect market trends and movements.
Payment methods accepted: Cash, card (taken by phone), bank transfer or Revolut.
5. Lesson Postponement
Provided notice is given to the school or to your instructor no later than 48 hours in advance of the lesson, no penalty will apply.
Your instructor reserves the right to postpone lessons if she feels the weather or road conditions are unsuitable or dangerous.
The instructor cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred as a result of her having to postpone any lessons, for whatever reason.
6. The Driving Test
a) Bookings
Driving tests must be booked by you, the student. Test appointments must be notified to your instructor as soon as they are known; otherwise she cannot guarantee to provide a vehicle for your test.
Driving test bookings may take priority over other lessons if required. Therefore, your lesson may be postponed to allow for someone else’s driving test and vice-versa. Changes to lesson bookings as a result of this will be notified immediately.
b) Use of the Vehicle
In the interest of customer and public safety your instructor reserves the right to withhold the use of a vehicle for the test if, in their opinion, your driving is actually or potentially dangerous.
c) Test Cancellation
Ten days notice of cancellation or postponement is required by the RSA. Failure to provide the required notice will result in the loss of your test fee. Dillon School of Motoring cannot be held responsible for any postponement or cancellation by the RSA.
Tyre Damage and Curbing
If at any time there has been damage caused to, or curbing the alloys or tyres damaged due to careless driving on a lesson or on a driving test then Dillon School of Motoring reserve the right to seek the appropriate fees to fix the alloys or tyre damage caused by your actions.
7. GDPR
Dillon School of Motoring are bound by The 2018 GDPR act, all information can be found on www.dataprotection.ie
8. Punctuality
In their own interests learners are advised to be punctual for their lesson appointments. All such appointments should be recorded to ensure that mistakes are avoided.
The instructor would normally wait a maximum of 45 minutes before the lesson would be abandoned and the lesson fee forfeited. A reciprocal waiting time may become necessary if the instructor is delayed due to unforeseen circumstances.
Any lesson time lost as a result of this would be made up by the instructor either at the end of the normal lesson time if possible or at a later date.
9. Learner Comfort and Safety
In the interest of comfort and safety learners are advised to wear suitable footwear and clothing which does not restrict movement.
Learners must also take note of any medication they are taking that may affect their ability to drive safely and advise their instructor accordingly before taking any lesson booked.
10. Driving Lesson Cancellation Policy at Dillon School of Motoring
You must give your driving instructor at least 48 hours notice (the Minimum Notice) if You wish to cancel or rearrange a driving lesson, otherwise you will be liable to pay for 100% of the driving lesson fee.
Where you have pre-paid for any driving lesson but fail to attend or provide the minimum notice to cancel or rearrange the driving lesson, it will be counted as a driving lesson taken for the purposes of the driving lesson cancellation policy and you will be liable for the driving lesson fee.
Payment in advance for driving lessons does give right for a student (and/or parents/guardians where applicable) to cancel or rearrange lessons outside of the 48 hour Minimum Notice Period. Aforementioned penalties for cancelling or rearranging pre-paid lessons will apply if the Minimum Notice Period is not adhered to.
